Chrysler torque converter shudder

TransGo engineered a special gasket for this application made from a non-shrinking material. The kit includes a drop-in hardened steel pressure regulator valve as well as a redesigned TC regulator valves for a quick no-hassle install. Both the redesigned drop-in steel PR valve and TC regulator valve, feature longer lands which restores the hydraulic integrity of the circuit by utilizing previously unused and therefore unworn areas of their bore. Furthermore, the longer lands increase bore longevity by redistributing the load over a greater surface area.

Lastly, the kit also includes accumulator spacers to make the releasing clutch exhaust faster, resulting in shifts that are shorter and cleaner. This transfers more power that is available and helps the fuel mileage. Whenever the internal clutch is applied, this is called torque converter lockup.

This happens after the vehicle is rolling and will let go when your vehicle stops. This clutch needs specific lubricants in the transmission fluid to work correctly. Lubrication for the torque converter clutch is one explanation behind such huge numbers of automatic transmission liquids ATF available.

Without the added substances in these liquids, the clutch may make noise when it draws in, causing the shudder sensation. On the off chance that permitted to chatter, it may harm the clutch. Material from the clutch will mix with the liquid and can demolish the automatic transmission. Not replacing the automatic transmission fluid regularly enough may make a torque converter shudder. Utilizing the wrong transmission fluid, even while flushing a transmission, can cause a torque converter shudder and numerous different issues.

Most transmission liquid has friction modifiers in it to help avoid shudder. Time, mileage, and heat make the additives in auto transmission fluid to become depleted. Without these added substances, clutches may wear and chatter. Depleted transmission fluid can cause gasket and seal shrinkage which will result in a leak.

Rear-wheel Ford vehicles have a common problem with this. If there is excessive debris is still found within the transmission pan or the shudder keeps happening after servicing, then you may need to replace the torque converter. In some cases, you may need to have your transmission rebuilt. This is the cost to flush out your transmission and refill it with new transmission fluid. Yes, changing transmission fluid or performing a transmission flush will help fix most torque converter shudder problems.

However, If you let your torque converter shudder for too long you might have to rebuild or replace it. Prevention and even adjustment are frequently as straightforward as getting your transmission serviced regularly. Limp In will occur when this fault is set. This is an intermittent condition and cannot be duplicated. If the fault can be duplicated, other conditions exist and further investigation will be required. Rapid Decel Coastdown Stumble. Low Speed Kickdown Harshness.

Does anyone know if the torque converter has to be replaced? Or can they just run the flash? My understanding is that the torque converters are all on back order. Mine was built Jan 26, I think. Do you think mine has the FIX? Funny thing. Just bought an 03 Liberty and had this problem. However after changing the torque converter , and a complete overhaul on the tranny, the problem with shifting patterns remained. Today, got the call that they are replacing the whole transmission.

I have only had the truck a month and it has been in for this problem, going on the third week. I have only driven the truck for 9 days. At least I am getting a new transmission.

Would like to know if my 07 Rubicon is affected. Any help? Had this TSB fix done last week. I took my 07 Rubicon into the dealer with a shudder occurring going from 1rst to 2nd. I have the 42RLE trani with a build date of jan Also a leak from my freedom top.

They called back saying they could not find a leak and after driving feet in their lot decided they could not find a shudder and there was nothing to fix. Those guys are a joke. They said wait till I have 5k on it and bring it back. I may bring it back every miles if it keeps doing this.

The shudder that I had is when Jeep is going about 40mph and most of the time in the last gear overdrive. As mentioned, this TSB reolved the issue. The contact stated that while her husband was driving 35 mph, the vehicle began shaking and stalled while approaching a traffic light. The vehicle shut off as the vehicle came to a stop. After several attempts the vehicle restarted. Once the contact's husband made it to his place of employment, he had the vehicle towed to the residence and then back to the same independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle with a defective trans-axle oil pump.

Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA campaign number: 16v power train which she linked to the failure however, the VIN was not included in the recal. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 74, The vehicle will shudder and lose power when accelerating. You have to basically manually shift it if on a big hill. I didn't some research and seems to be a problem with this vehicle.

Some people reported the problem starting around miles. The vehicle shifts roughly from r to d and d to r. When accelerating at about 35 to 45, the vehicle delays the shift causing the car to shake before shifting to the proper gear.

I went to the dealer to ask them if there was a recall for this problem they first say that there was no problem and then I read that there was a recall for some vehicles having debris on the engines, so they replaced half of the heads in the engine.

Also while coming to a stop the transmission would not downshift causing the car to lunge forward. It would vibrate when coming to stop. Faulty transmission. Constantly hard shifts everywhere. Feels like the transmission is going to fall out of the vehicle every time you shift from reverse to drive ,or drive to park, or park to reverse. This is the second transmission on this vehicle.

I had the powertrain checked and the vehicle came out with no problems.
